2018 Week 11 - Flexing with Purpose

As we have launched in 2018 with intentionality and purpose we are bound to meet obstacles, roadblocks and occasionally doubt.   A person...

Day 39 - Wait on the Lord

1 Day to Launch!

1 Kings 8:56 Living Bible (TLB) “Blessed be the Lord who has fulfilled his promise and given rest to his people Israel; not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises proclaimed by his servant Moses.

Joshua 21:45 Living Bible (TLB)  Every good thing the Lord had promised them came true.

2 Chronicles 26:5 As long as she sought the Lord, Gave gave her success.

We are being launched to live a surrendered life.  I did a little research about rocket launches and I found interesting nuggets.

When a rocket is launched there are many things that happen after the words Blast off are shouted!

What are all the parts on a rocket?

There are multi-stage rockets and boosters that hold the fuel. Once the fuel is exhausted, the structure which contained it and the motors themselves are useless and only add weight which slows down its future acceleration.

Life application: You have been carrying things that had given you fuel to this point.  It has serviced its purpose, if you keep carrying it there will be issues, it no longer has a purpose.  Let it go.

What happens when the parts drop off?

By dropping the stages which are no longer useful to the mission, the rocket lightens itself. The thrust of future stages is able to provide more acceleration. When a stage drops off, the rest of the rocket is still traveling near the speed that the whole assembly reached at burn-out time. This means that it needs less total fuel to reach a given velocity and/or altitude.

Life application: When you let it go, know that you will continue at the speed of acceleration at the point of release.  You need less to go forward and you will have more acceleration.

What are the downsides?
On the downside, staging requires the vehicle to lift motors which are not yet being used, as well as making the entire rocket more complex and harder to build.

Life Application: Even after the fast, there will be issues you will  still carry.  You are complex and there is more for God to do in your life.  This is just one phase.

What about failure?
In addition, each staging event is a significant point of failure during a launch, with the possibility of separation failure, ignition failure, and stage collision. Nevertheless, the savings are so great that every rocket ever used to deliver a payload into orbit has had staging of some sort.

Life application: Separation failure - Not letting go when God tells you to - Ignition failure - God gives you an idea and you fail to move in His timing - Stage collision  - God has instructed you in the way to go and you have not completed the assignment or you bring other stuff to the next phase, the stages in your life collide.

You are God's child living out His plan for your life, there will always be stages and phases. Learn how to maximize the stage and move in season.

How do you measure efficiency or effectiveness?
One of the most common measures of rocket efficiency is its specific impulse, which is defined as the thrust per flow rate (per second) of propellant consumption:[1]

Life application: How will you respond to the impulses? That is another topic for another day.

Summary
It is still a process, you may feel weighted now, things are going to drop off, things that used to motivate you will not, you will feel the burn as you accelerate through the plan. Stay on mission and get into orbit. There are times when God is not going to feel like he is there know that God is faithful and you must wait in the Lord and on Him.

Pastor Danielle explained our lives are like tapestries.  God uses all of our experiences to create the pictures of our lives. The underside of the tapestries has threads everywhere without a rhyme or reason. When you take a moment and turn the tapestry over you see a different picture.  A quick turn in perspective can show the beauty of the work of God in your life. On this Thankful Thursday, we thank God for what is happening in our lives, even when we don't understand it.
