Welcome to Week 10 Changing with Purpose
Nothing changes unless you make it change. I heard this statement last week when I was a little under the weather. As I laid on my sick bed, (dramatic right!), I watched a movie and this was a key line….nothing changes unless you make it change. Change happens as a result of a decision that you make. You can complain, feel bad, you can wish, you can dream …. You can do all of these things but nothing changes unless you make it change.
And the first step is you must change your mind.
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6
Ladies, you are on a path to purposefully change your life and the life of those who are connected to you. Each of us was created for a purpose; our parents' lives were changed for a purpose. The decisions you make impact future generations. I am living on the decisions that my grandmothers' parents and siblings made over 100 years ago. I am here serving God because they had their minds set on what the spirit wanted not their flesh. Trust me their flesh did not want what they were given. They were in tune with the spirit and because they listened to the spirit. My family exists!!!
You are encouraged to
- Be Purposeful - Commit to having your mind set on the Spirit
- Be Intentional -The focus of your mind can change how you consume information. Consider what you consume - some call it entertainment, but it is food for your flesh. It awakens fleshly desires, it lulls you into to complacency; it makes you believe that you are ok because at least you are not like …fill in the blank. What it does not do when your mind is set on the flesh is lead you to your purpose. When your mind is set on the spirit, you make choices to intentional feed your spirit man; that does not mean only consume spiritual things - it means you must be intentional on how you receive information, interpret information and apply information. That movie I watched was in no way spiritual, I was actually in my escapism mode, I was trying to not to adult in that moment. God used it to remind me that I needed to make a change in a major area of my life that I was avoiding. I did not want to address it but it was causing damage and it needed to be addressed.
- Be Consistent Success doesn't come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently. My trainer says every winner was once a beginner. You will not change your mind today and be the best tomorrow. It is a one thought, one step, one moment, one decision, one day, one mistake one recovery journey.
We must be purposeful, we must be intentional, and we must be consistent.
