The young man walks away sad, because he had great wealth. The commandment the young man had not kept was do not covet.
We live in a society that constantly shows us what we don't have and encourages us to get it. Society tells us we will feel better, look better if you do this or buy this. The Lord's instructions are different. The Lord says
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).
God provides what you need. Philippians 4:19 says God provides all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. So that mean you should have what you need to fulfill the vision God has given you. It depends on your assignment from God. Solomon had to be wealthy because of his assignment to build the temple. The wealth you have is not to make a big you but to build the kingdom. God trust that he can get it to you to go through you to do His will.
How do you get your heart in the correct posture so God can provide you with the resources needed to fulfill the mission he has placed on your life? You meditate on the four scriptures:
Philippians 4:11-13 Paul stated “learn how to be content with whatever you have” He wrote, “I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
1 Timothy 6:17 If we learn to be “rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, In this way you will lay up treasure for yourselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that you may take hold of the life that is truly life.” .
1 Timothy 6:18-19 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Hebrews 11:6 We can know that God has a glorious inheritance for those who have faith in Him. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”.
The God of the Impossible…Audrey Hepburn agreed with the scripture Matthew 19:26 - For with God all things are possible when she says Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I'm Possible. God has anointed you for the possible …Today tell yourselves I'm Possible
